Three French successes

An electoral campaign frequently consists for the candidates in proclaiming that all what has been done for thirty and even forty years is a failure after another one. A candidate went even to pretend that one of the previous presidents had put the French economy into the worst situation. Three recent or forecast events and devoted to examples of major France successes show to which point all these declarations are without any basis and so are misleading.

Inflation : The new tax

At the end of February, inflation, year-on-year in France reached 3.6 %. This month alone, consumption prices had increased by 0.7% after 0.3% in January. If we use the harmonized calculation mode defined by the European rules, inflation has been during that period 4.1%, an unknown level for thirty years. Interest rates increase : What consequences ?

The interest rate on the French State 10-years bond has reached 0.68% at the market closure last Friday. It was a light diminution compared to the previous days when it had overpassed 0.70% but a strong increase since the beginning of the year. In 2021, the 10- years rate had been all along the year near zero. The fall had started in 2019 when it had been clearly negative (-0.40% in August for instance).
